Srimangal – Tea Centre of Bangladesh

This quaint little town is located 265 Km northeast of Dhaka. This is the ‘Tea Centre’ of Bangladesh. Main attractions are the tropical forest of Lawacharra, tribal villages of the Manipuri and Khashia, and the surrounding Tea Gardens covering hilly terrain. The accommodation at the Tea Resort is in individual bungalows or air-conditioned rooms. Meals are prepared and served in the Resort’s own Restaurant. The Nirob Eco Cottage, situated near the Lawacharra forest and only 5 minutes walking distance from the Tea Resort, offers 2 rooms with twin sharing beds. It can accommodate 5 guests at most. Meals are prepared by the owner’s family, who also ensures your safe and enjoyable stay in a natural surrounding.

29. 2N/3D Trip to Srimongol (Eco Cottage) by Train

Day 01: Leave Dhaka early in the morning around 6.30 am by train for Srimangal - also known as the ‘land of two leaves and a bud’, a synonym for the tea gardens and the large quantities of tea produced here. Upon arrival you will be received and transferred to the Srimangal Nirob Eco Cottage. In the afternoon drive to a nearby tea plantation and visit the Manipuri and Khashia communities. Stop at a local textile weaving workshop on the way.

Day02 : Start early in the morning for a rewarding wildlife trek through the nearby Lawacharra National Park. This is the best time to observe the abundant and diverse wildlife. As one of the last remaining tropical rainforests of Bangladesh, the Lawacharra forest is home to a large variety of rare and endangered species, the most prominent of which are the Hollock Gibbons. The small tract of dense forests is heaven for birdwatchers, naturalists and adventure seekers alike. After breakfast drive for approximately two hours to the Madhobkunda waterfall. Surrounded by large tea estates, and decorated with water lilies, this spot is a favorite among locals as well as visitors from afar. The rubber, betel leaf and lemon plantations form a mosaic of greens, typical for this rolling landscape

Return to the Srimangal Nirob Eco Cottage in the afternoon for an evening at leisure and overnight stay.

Day03 : After breakfast you will be transferred to the Srimangal train station for boarding the morning train back to Dhaka. Arrive in Dhaka in the early afternoon.

30. 2N/3D Trip to Srimongol (Tea Resort) by Train

33. 3N/4D Trip to Sylhet -Srimongol (Tea Resort) by Air &Train

Day 1: Take the morning domestic flight to Sylhet.

Upon arrival you will be received and transferred to the Zastat Holiday Resort (15 Km from Sylhet Town)/ Hotel Metro International. After check-in and lunch the accompanying guide will take you on afternoon sightseeing tour of Sylhet town. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast start for full day excursion to Tamabil and Jaflong. Situated amidst a splendid panorama Tamabil is a border outpost on the Sylhet-Shillong road about 55 km from Sylhet town. Glimpses of the waterfalls across the border from Tamabil add to the enchanting views of the hilly area

Jaflong is a scenic spot nearby amidst tea gardens and beauty of rolling stones from hills.

In the afternoon drive to Srimangal for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: After breakfast drive for approximately two hours to the Madhobkunda waterfall. Surrounded by large tea estates, and decorated with water lilies, this spot is a favorite among locals as well as visitors from afar. The rubber, betel leaf and lemon plantations form a mosaic of greens, typical for this rolling landscape.

Drive back to Srimangal, also known as the ‘land of two leaves and a bud’, a synonym for the tea gardens and the large quantities of tea produced here. You can watch the tea processing at the Tea Research Institute.

Return to Tea Resort for dinner and overnight stay

Return to Srimangal in time for the afternoon train to Dhaka, arriving in Dhaka in the early evening.

Sunamganj Wetlands (Tangua Haor) - Birdwatcher’s Heaven

Situated below the foothills of the Himalayas, the vast wetlands, locally known as ‘haors’, attract huge flocks of migratory birds in the winter months (October- March). The Sunamganj wetland area is unspoiled and remains largely unexplored by tourists. Cruising through the shallow and clear waters is a special treat for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike

45. 4N/5D Trip to Sunamgonj Wetland by bus

Day 01: Leave Dhaka early in the morning by public bus to Sylhet or travel by domestic flight to Sylhet. Upon arrival at Sylhet drive to Sunamganj (approx. 2 hours drive) by reserved vehicle. At Sunamganj board reserved motor boat for the 8- 12 hours cruise towards Tangua Haor. Arrive at small market place close to the wetlands by late evening. Anchor for the overnight stay on boat.

Day 02: Very early in the morning resume the cruise and arrive at Tangua Haor by noon. Afternoon activities in the haor as per your interest. Overnight on boat.

Day 03: Full day activities on Tangua Haor as per your interest, including boating, bird watching trip in and around Tangua Haor, swimming, etc. Overnight on boat.

Day 04: Early in the morning enjoy some last bird-watching before starting journey to Sunamganj. Drive to Sylhet for late dinner and overnight stay.

Day 05: Return to Dhaka by public bus or domestic flight.
