DhakaHalf Day Sightseeing Tour

This tour takes you to the heart of Dhaka. Our guide will lead you to some of its treasures, including Shankharia Bazar (Hindu street), Ahsan Manzil (Pink Palace), Sadarghat (River front), Armenian Church, Star Mosque, Dhakeswari Temple and Lalbagh Fort. On this 3-4 hour tour you will also get a glance of the Curzon Hall (Dhaka University campus) and the National Assembly Building.
For small groups we can arrange a short rickshaw or boat ride upon request.

Dhaka & Beyond – Full Day Sightseeing Tour
After a tour of Old Dhaka (half day sightseeing tour) and a light lunch in a local restaurant, our guide will take you to the outskirts of the city. Take your pick: Sonargaon or Savar.
The National Martyr’s Monument in Savar (about 35 km northwest of Dhaka), an impressive 50m high structure, was built to commemorate the millions killed in the struggle for the countries independence in 1971.
Sonargaon was the countries first capital. In its prime time the ‘Golden City’ was also an important river port and the trading centre for the world-famous muslin cloth. The remains of a number of mosques, tombs, stupas and a bridge in Panam Nagar, the Shiv Mandir (Hindu temple) and the well-maintained Folk Art Museum are well worth visiting.
You will return to Dhaka in the late afternoon.

River Cruise on the Shitalakkhya River – Full Day River Cruise
Our transport and guide will meet you at 8:00 am at Gulshan circle II and drive you to Demra. Here the leisurely river cruise on the Shitalakhya River commences. On board our traditional yacht you can relax, enjoy the morning tea. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a Ganges River dolphin! At Murapara the boat will halt for a visit of the old Zamindar’s palace. If you want you may also go for a refreshing swim in the river. Enjoy the freshly prepared lunch onboard and watch activities by the riverside.
On the way back we serve tea, coffee and snacks after stopping at Noapara, famous for the traditional Jamdanee weaving. You are invited to watch the weavers at work. After cruising back to Demra and disembarking, you will return to Dhaka, arriving in the late afternoon.

Dhaka at a Glance - Full Day Sightseeing & River Cruise Tour
This intensive tour program is ideal for guests with limited time.
In the morning your guide will show you as many sights in Old Dhaka as time permits (Half Day Sightseeing Tour). Around noon you will drive to Demra. Sunset over Shitalakhya – Evening Cruise with Barbeque Dinner
In the afternoon your guide will accompany you to Demra, about 15 km east of Dhaka. Here the cruise aboard our traditional yacht S. B. Ruposhi on the Shitalakhya River begins. At Noapara, famous for the traditional Jamdanee weaving, you are welcome to visit the skilled weavers producing the intricate textile. The cruise will continue, and tea, coffee and snacks will be served. The boat will anchor at a convenient place for you to enjoy the peaceful evening sunset mood or a refreshing swim. A delicious barbeque dinner will be prepared and served on board. The boat will start the return journey, reaching Demra around 9:30 pm. After disembarking we will drive you back to Dhaka.

Dhaka Museum Tour
Dhaka offers a great variety of museums and exhibitions. On this 4-5 hour tour we include the National Museum (Extensive collection of folk art and handicrafts, artwork, natural and cultural heritage), the Liberation War Museum, The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Museum and a visit to the Lalbagh Fort. Entry tickets and refreshments are included in the tour price.

Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban – Exclusive Tour of the National Assembly Building
Designed by the world-renowned American architect Louis Kahn, the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (National Assembly Building) is the most notable modern building in Bangladesh. It is regarded by many as the finest work of Kahn.
Although the typical bold geometrical patterns are distinctive from the outside, a visit to the interior, including the octagonal Assembly Hall, is a special treat.
Access to the National Assembly is restricted. We arrange exclusive tours to the inside of the famous Parliament building with a minimum of one week prior notice.

Dhaka

Comilla – Mainamati – Sonargaon
Mainamati is known for the greatest assemblage of ancient Buddhist remains in Bangladesh. Excavations have exposed a large Buddhist monastery together with its central shrine and a wealth of material objects datable from the 7th to 12th centuries AD. Archaeological finds also clearly indicate that this was the cultural and political centre of ancient Vanga-Samatata (southeast Bengal).
Starting in the morning from Dhaka, you will arrive in Comilla after a 2-3 hour scenic road journey. Upon arrival and refreshments, a guided tour of the archaeological sites (Salban Vihara, Rupban Mura, Itakhola Mura, Mainamati Mound), the Mainamati museum and the Mainamati War Cemetery will commence. After lunch at a local restaurant you will drive back towards Dhaka.
On the way the tour stops at Sonargaon, the old capital of Bengal. Your guide will show you Panam Nagar (remains of the ancient city), Shiv Mandir (Hindu temple) and the Folk Art Museum. You will arrive back in Dhaka by late afternoon.

Artisans of Bengal –Pottery village & Brass artisans
Leaving Dhaka in the morning, this tour will start with a visit to the National Martyr’s Monument in Savar (35 km from Dhaka). In the nearby place Dhamrai, famous for its brass artisans, you can observe the making of various traditional utensils and religious objects. During the Bengali month of Ashar (June-July) the colorful Hindu festival ‘Ratha Jatra’ takes place here. The large ‘Rath’, similar to a Roman chariot, can be seen throughout the year.
The tour will continue to Nayarhat, where you will leave the vehicle and take a short boat journey to Kakran. Here most villagers are engaged in the pottery trade. The use of clay pots and utensils is slowly disappearing, posing a threat to the traditional livelihood of these skilled artisans.
After returning to the vehicle and a light lunch at a local restaurant you will head back towards Dhaka. On the way you will stop at the beautiful Jahangir Nagar University campus, famous for the flocks of migratory birds visiting the many lakes in winter. This tour returns to Dhaka in the early afternoon.

Pubail Retreat – Rural Bangladesh up Close & Personal

The Pubail Retreat in Demorpara, a small fishermen village, symbolizes typical rural Bangladesh. It has representative jungles, wet land, rural pond and cultivatable land. During your visit here you have the opportunity to interact with the local community, learn about their culture as well as their day-to-day life. Fond memories of these authentic interactions will be yours to take home.
Meet at Gulshan Circle II at 8 am and drive to Pubail retreat in Demorpara (approximately one hour drive). Upon arrival at the retreat you will be served freshly prepared traditional breakfast with tea.
After breakfast we invite you to watch the fishing, farming and craftsman activities with the assistance of a knowledgeable language guide. You are welcome to join their routine. Later the guide will join you for a walk into the nearby village for you to have a closer look at the rural village life in Bangladesh.
Return to the retreat for the freshly prepared traditional lunch. After lunch activities like cycling and boating will be offered or you may opt to visit some adjacent villages. After an afternoon tea and snacks you will start your return journey back, arriving Dhaka in the early evening.

Full-Day guided Excursion to Manikgonj
Manikgonj, a district in central Bangladesh , is known for the three largest Zamindaries (Mansions of Landowners) based in the estates of Baliati, Teota and Dhankora.
Proshika HRDC Trust, one of the largest non-governmental organizations in Bangladesh, is situated in the Saturia Upazilla of Manikgonj. Here Proshika has its own organic agricultural plan, the second largest tissue culture project in Asia, an apiculture project and honey processing plant, sericulture (silk) projects, a shrimp hatchery, handloom fabric production and processing projects, a bio gas plant, its own water treatment plant and a large nursery. Several of their products are for sale on site.

After an early morning pick-up at 7.30 am drive to Savar, about 35 km northwest of Dhaka, where you will have breakfast at the Joy Restaurant. After breakfast drive to the Baliati Rajbari (King’s Palace)The first Baliati Palace, is one of the finest rajbaris in Bangladesh. It’s also the largest, with a frontage of approximately 125m, and occupies an area of about eight hectares, with over 200 rooms! Originally owned by descendants of Govinda Ram saha, the impressive Renaissance frontage, with attractive array of tall fluted Corithian columns lining a wide corridor, is reminiscent of a Georgian country house in England. The Ram Krishna Mission and the Baliate Sri Gobinda temple* are at walking distance (15 minutes) from the Rajbari.
Continue drive to Pakutia Zamindar Palace. This zamindar palace is converted In college now. Nearby this zamindar palace you can visit another zamindar palace which was build two brothers in same design. Afterwards drive to the ‘Kamar Bari’ near the Proshika Project. In their dining hall, where all food served is grown and produced on the project premises, you will have lunch. After lunch you are invited to visit their projects and the various production sites.
Upon returning to Dhaka, you will have time to stop at Savar for a visit to the National Martyr's Monument, an impressive 50m high structure, built to commemorate the millions killed in the struggle for the countries independence in 1971. Return to Dhaka by late afternoon.

Overnight Tours
Village home-stay

Over eighty percent of Bangladesh’s population lives in rural settings. A village home-stay offers a deep insight in to the life of a small community. As guests of a local family you will be staying in a traditional home with basic facilities. While sharing their hospitality, you are welcome to join their daily work in and around the house or in the fields, visit the local school, try your luck at catching fish from the pond or working at the loom. Your guide will facilitate the communication with the villagers.
You will leave Dhaka in the morning and reach the village within 1-2 hours. After a full day and night in the village, you will return to Dhaka in the early afternoon. All meals will be prepared by the host family. For your convenience we provide bottled mineral water, bedding and a mosquito net. The accompanying guide will ensure your well-being.

Overnight Trip to Rajshahi & Puthia

Bangladesh’s rich heritage is visually represented most strikingly in greater North Bengal. This overnight trip combines historical sites with the popular trademarks of this region – silk, sweets and mangoes, ensuring a truly insightful experience.

Continue drive to Rajshahi, a University town on the Padma River. A short boat trip to enjoy the sunset over the Padma river can be arranged. Dinner at a local restaurant & overnight in Rajshahi.

Day 01: Leave Dhaka early in the morning for Rajshahi (approximately 5½ hour scenic drive). Lunch at a highway restaurant. After lunch stop in Puthia, a charming town renowned for the largest number of historically important Hindu structures in Bangladesh. The Shiva Temple in Puthia is the largest Hindu temple in Bangladesh. The Govinda Temple, decorated with intricate terracotta designs, is in one of the country’s finest old Rajbaris’ courtyard
Rajshahi is also known as the ‘silk capital’ of Bangladesh; visit a local silk production and watch the weaving, dying, block and batik painting of this exclusive natural fiber. After visiting the Silk factory start drive back to Dhaka. Lunch at a highway restaurant on the way. Reach Dhaka early in the evening.

Day 02: Rajshahi offers several interesting attractions for visitors, including the country’s oldest museum, the Varendra Research Museum, managed by the Rajshahi University. In the predominantly British-style building with some interesting Hindu-Buddhist features, artifacts from all over the subcontinent are on display, including a superb collection of local Hindu sculpture. Museum visit after breakfast.

Overnight Trip to Srimangal – Tea Centre of Bangladesh

This quaint little town is located 265 Km northeast of Dhaka. This is the ‘Tea Centre’ of Bangladesh. Main attractions are the tropical forest of Lawacharra, tribal villages of the Manipuri and Khashia, and the surrounding Tea Gardens covering hilly terrain.
The accommodation at the Tea Resort is in individual bungalows or air-conditioned rooms. Meals are prepared and served in the Resort’s own Restaurant.
The Nirob Eco Cottage, situated near the Lawacharra forest and only 5 minutes walking distance from the Tea Resort, offers 2 rooms with twin sharing beds. It can accommodate 5 guests at most. Meals are prepared by the owner’s family, who also ensures your safe and enjoyable stay in a natural surrounding.

Day 01: Leave Dhaka early in the morning around 6.30 am by train for Srimangal - also known as the ‘land of two leaves and a bud’, a synonym for the tea gardens and the large quantities of tea produced here. Upon arrival you will be received and transferred to the Srimangal Tea Resort/Nirob Eco Cottage. In the afternoon drive to a nearby tea plantation and visit the Manipuri and Khashia communities. Stop at a local textile weaving workshop on the way.. Overnight at the Tea Resort/Nirob Eco Cottage.

Day 02: Start early in the morning for a rewarding wildlife trek through the nearby Lawacharra National Park. This is the best time to observe the abundant and diverse wildlife. As one of the last remaining tropical rainforests of Bangladesh, the Lawacharra forest is home to a large variety of rare and endangered species, the most prominent of which are the Hollock Gibbons. The small tract of dense forests is heaven for birdwatchers, naturalists and adventure seekers alike.After breakfast you will be transferred to the Srimangal train station for boarding the train back to Dhaka. Arrive in Dhaka in the afternoon.

Padma Resort - Louhajong Munshigonj

The Padma Resort in Louhojong Thana in Munshigonj is situated on the Bank of river Padma. If you want a short break from the bustling city of Dhaka, then this is the perfect get-away for you.

Day 01: Meet at Gulshan Circle II and drive to Padma resort in Munshigonj, approximately a 2 hour drive. Upon arrival at the Padma River bank board a local boat for the 5 minute crossing to the resort. Upon arrival you will be welcomed with a light drink. Your guide will give you brief information about the locality. You will check into your rooms for some rest and freshen up. Later in the afternoon the guide will take you for a walk along the river. If you feel like it, take a dip in the water! Return to the resort for dinner and overnight.
Day 02: After breakfast we invite you to watch the fishing activities at the bank of the Padma river. If you want you may join them as well. Enjoy the freshly prepared lunch at the restaurant of the resort. After lunch you will have options for activities like boating. You may also visit some adjacent villages if you want. After afternoon tea and snacks you will start your return journey back to Dhaka, arriving in the early evening.

Overnight in - Manikganj

Day 01: Leave Dhaka early in the morning for Manikganj, located about 70 km from Dhaka. Upon arrival check-in at the guesthouse and have lunch. After lunch drive to Baliati (28km). With over 200 rooms, the Baliati palace is one of the largest and finest in Bangladesh. It was built by Zamindar (landlord) Govinda Ram Saha mid 18th century. A twenty minute walk through the picturesque landscape brings you to the Baliati Sri Sri Gobinai Mothe, a Hindu temple, and a Ram Krishna mission. On the way stop at the Eshore Chandra High School, the first certified high school in East Bengal. The nearby Pakutia Zamindaris or palace has been converted into a college. Return to the Proshika guesthouse for dinner. All food served here has been produced on their own property in Manikganj. Overnight stay in Proshika guesthouse, Manikganj.
Day 02: After breakfast you are invited to visit the projects of Proshika HRDC Trust here in Manikganj. Among their currently operating projects are organic agriculture, tissue culture, apiculture and honey processing plant, sericulture project, shrimp hatchery, handloom weaving, natural vegetable dyes, a biogas plant, water treatment plant and a nursery covering a large portion of the property. Several of their products are for sale. Start return journey to Dhaka after an early lunch at the Proshika guest house. Along the way visit artisan communities engaged in traditional iron and brass work. Stop for a brief visit to the National Martyr’s monument in Saver. Return to Dhaka by late afternoon.

Dhanbari Royal Resort - A Royal Retreat

The Royal Resort is the first and only Heritage Resort in Bangladesh. Located at Dhonbari, Tangail, the Royal Resort is only a 4 hour driver (150 km) from Dhaka.
This sprawling complex was the former palace of the Dhanbari Nawabs, Muslim kings or provincial governors of Bengal. These local royalties set up a large number of educational institutions including the University of Dhaka.
Our program combines excursions to the surrounding area with ample leisure time, allowing you to relax and enjoy a royal retreat

Day 01: Leave Dhaka in the morning by reserved vehicle for the four hour drive through scenic rural landscape. Located on the Modhupur –Jamalpur highway, a newly built road with several bypasses, the resort can easily be reached before lunch. Upon arrival check-in to the resort, freshen-up and have lunch.
In the afternoon drive to the Madhupur National Park (1hr drive), a moist deciduous old-growth forest with abundant and diverse wildlife. After enjoying the rejuvenating forest and exploring its astounding biodiversity on foot, return to the resort for dinner and overnight stay. If time permits, stop at a rubber plantation and processing factory or a pineapple plantation for a short visit.

Day 02: Members of the ethnic Garo tribe live in small communities in the nearby area. After breakfast we will drive you to visit their villages and observe their ways of living. Return to the resort for lunch. After lunch start the return journey to Dhaka. On way stop at the famous Jamuna Bridge, the country’s longest bridge and often depicted in decorative paintings on trucks or bicycle rickshaws. Arrive Dhaka in the late afternoon.

Pubail Retreat - A Glimpse of Rural Bangladesh

Day 01: Meet at Gulshan Circle II at 1500 hrs and drive to Pubail retreat in Demorpara. It is approximately an hour drive. Upon arrival at the retreat you will be welcomed with light drink. Your guide will give you brief information about the local community. You will check into your rooms for some rest and freshen up.
Later in the afternoon the guide will take you for a walk into the village for you to have a closer look at the village life in Bangladesh.
You will be back to the retreat for dinner and overnight.

Day 02: After breakfast we invite you to watch the fishing farming and craftsman activities inside the retreat. If you want you may join them as well. Enjoy the freshly prepared traditional lunch. After lunch you will have options for activities like cycling and boating. You may also visit some adjacent villages if you want. After some afternoon tea and snacks you will start your return journey back to Dhaka, arriving in the early evening.

Birishiri & Durgapur – Exploring the scenic northern border area of Bangladesh

The northern border area of Bangladesh has remained virtually untouched by tourism. Yet the beauty of the landscape framed by the Himalayan foothills and the ethnic diversity are well worth a journey. While the access and travel options are limited, the charm of traveling at a leisurely pace by local boat, rickshaw or on foot through the rural areas is an entirely different experience. With our program we combine visits to the most interesting sites with locally adequate travel modes, thereby allowing visitors a unique insight into the natural and cultural diversity of this region.

Day 01: Leave Dhaka early in the morning for the five hour drive through scenic rural landscape to Birishiri, via Mymensingh. Upon arrival check-in to the guesthouse, freshen-up and have lunch. In the afternoon enjoy a leisurely cruise north on the Someshwari River. After the two hour boat ride through breathtaking landscape with you will reach Ranikhong. Visit the Christian mission and church on the hilltop with a stunning view of the Himalayan foothills. Continue the journey on foot or by rickshaw to Bijoypur to visit a ceramic mine and Garo tribal villages. Return towards Bijoypur by rickshaw. On the way stop at Kamarkhali to see the ‘Martyr Rashmoni Hajong Monument’, the former leader of the Hajong community. Cross the river by engine boat at Shivganj ghat to reach Birishiri. Dinner and overnight stay in Birishiri.

Day 02: After breakfast visit the nearby ethnic indigenous communities, the Academy of Tribal Culture and the Baptist mission in Birishiri. Just a half hour rickshaw ride away is the town of Durgapur with a lively open market and the historic Rajbari, the former residency of the King of the Durgapur area. Return to Birishiri for lunch before starting back to Dhaka. Reach Dhaka by evening.
