Beaches in Chittagong:

Patenga & Fouzdarhat Sea Beaches: Patenga beach is about 22 km from Chittagong and is accessible by road. Here is the confluence of the river Karnaphuli and the Bay of Bengal. The beach is protected from erosion by placing boulders. Visitors can have a view of the bay sitting on the boulders. There is also a sandy beach. Besides the beach, you can enjoy boating and river cruise on the Karnaphuli River. Another ideal tourist spot is the Fauzdarhat Sea Beach, 16 km from Chittagong.

Parki Beach: Parki beach is situated in Anwara Thana under Southern Chittagong region. The beach is located about 17 Km from Chittagong city. As the beach is situated at the Karnafuli river channel, visitors can view both the Karnafuli River and the sea together. Tourists can see the big ships anchored at the outer dock, fishermen catching fish in sea, sunset, and various colored crabs at the beach and enjoy the quiet and peaceful environment.

Other destinations in Chittagong:

Shitakundo: Located 37 km from Chittagong city, Shitakundo is famous for the Chandranath Temple and the Buddhist Temple, which is said to have the footprint of Lord Buddha. Shitakundo attracts tourists for its scenic setting and particularly because these hilltops are regarded as very sacred both by the Buddhists and Hindus. Siva-chaturdashi festival is held every year in February when thousands of pilgrims assemble for the celebrations, which last about ten days. There is a salt-water spring 5 km. to the north of Shitakunda, known as Labanakhya.

Cox’s Bazaar:

Maheshkhali Island: Located about 6 km northwest of Cox’s Bazaar, Moheshkhali Island has a mixed population of Buddhist, Hindu and Muslims. The main attraction of Maheshkhali is the Adinath temple and ashram dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. The island is accessible by a 15 minutes speedboat ride from Kastura Ghaat in Cox’s Bazaar.

Sonadia Island: The origin of the name is from an age old legend. It is said that a ship loaded with gold sunk there centuries ago during an attack by Portugese pirates, and an island formed around the ship-wreck. The tiny 4.63 sq km island, located 7 km from Cox’s Bazaar, is accessible by speedboat from Kastura Ghat. The island is an ideal place for tourists interested in buying dried pomfret fish. Sonadia also acts as a temporary sanctuary for migrating birds such as petrels, geese, curlews, ducks and other water fowl. It was once renowned for pink pearls.

Himchhori & Inani Beach: One of the main attractions of Cox’s Bazaar is to the "Broken Hills" and waterfalls of Himchori (18 km south from Cox’s Bazar) and Inani beach (14 km south from Himchori). The journey is an exotic drive along the seashore. Inani beach is famous for its rock and coral boulders.

Other Destinations in Cox’s Bazaar:

Aggameda Khyang: It is a Buddhist monastery located at the eastern end of town. It represents the Burmese style architecture. The main sanctuary is built around massive timber columns. The floors are made of teak. Behind Aggameda Khyang is Maha Thin Daw Gree, a vast spread of Buddhist structures.

Ramu & Lamapara: Ramu and Lamapara towns are special for their Buddhist Khyangs (temples). Ramu is located 14 km east of Cox’s Bazaar, just off the Chittagong road. There is also a beautiful monastery containing images of Buddha in bronze, silver and gold, and inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones. Lamapara is a palm shaded village, 5 km from Ramu and accessible only by zigzag village roads. The Burmese Bara Khyang in Lamapara has the country’s largest bronze Buddha statue. The temple has three wooden buildings which house a number of precious Buddhist images in silver and gold set with gems.

Teknaf:

The bank of river Naf and the Bay of Bengal make up the Teknaf Town, which is the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. Its beauty of hills, forests, Naf River and the beach makes Teknaf a splendid destination for tourists. The salt fields on the bank of River Naf are an interesting sight for visitors.

St. Martin’s Island:

It is a small island in the northeast part of the Bay of Bengal and about 9km south of the tip of Cox’s Bazaar-Teknaf peninsula forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. The local name of the island is Narikel Jinjira meaning Coconut Island. It is the only coral island of Bangladesh. It exists only because of its coral base. It also has the country’s only clear water suitable for snorkeling. The island also provides nesting ground for turtles.

Kuakata:

Kuakata, locally known as Sagar Kannya or Daughter of the Sea is a scenic beauty-spot in southern Bangladesh. The name Kuakata originated from the kua-wells dug on the seashore for collecting drinking water by the early Rakhine settlers of Arakan descent. Kuakata’s unique combination of pristine sandy beaches bordered by the Bay of Bengal, patches of mangrove trees withstanding the perpetual forces of the tides and the ethnic diversity most prominently visible during the annual religious festivals and pilgrimages make this special place worth exploring.
Kuakata is located about 71 km south of the sea-queen district of Patuakhali, facing the Bay of Bengal. It is accessible by road or water from Dhaka. The beach is about 18 km long and 3 km width elongated east-westward from where both sun-rise and sun-set can be seen.

Other destinations in Kuakata:

Latachapli and Tangragiri reserved forests in the Kolapara Thana, Gangamoti reserve and Khajura reserve on the east and western part of the beach respectively are bestowed with natural mangrove species like keora, gewa, baen, kankra, goran, hetal, golpata and numbers of wild animals like wild boar, deer, monkey and different types of birds.
Shima Buddist Temple and Rakhaine culture at Kuakata are the added spots of tourism.

Kotka Beach:

Kotka beach, located in the southeast sanctuary of Sundarban, is one of the most pristine sandy beaches of Bangladesh. You can enjoy a relaxing and peaceful time at this isolated beach. Normally tourists traveling to Sundarban Forest get the opportunity to visit this unique beach.
